Learn What Abdominal Hernia Symptoms Are
Abdominal wall hernias are protrusions in a weak area of the abdominal wall. Several hernias are asymptomatic while others are strangulated or incarcerated. These hernias must be treated immediately by your doctor.
It is common for abdominal wall hernias to develop by severe coughing, pregnancy, heavy lifting, old age, past surgical procedures, obesity, or losing too much weight.
Usually someone will be able to feel the hernia developing. There will a burning sensation and tenderness and at time the patient will be able to push the hernia into place. For some people the hernia may in fact disappear without any type of medical treatment. You can try to push it back into place – but keep in mind that this does not always work and cannot always be done.
